A man in North Attleboro, Massachusetts is accused on passing fake $100 bills with President Abraham Lincoln’s face on them. He allegedly did this at a local Target store.
Dana T. Leland, 29, was arrested in Rhode Island after a police officer recognized a police photo array. North Attleboro borders the state of Rhode Island. Mr. Leland was charged with three counts of uttering a counterfeit note and possession of a counterfeit note. According to the police, over the course of three days Mr. Leland purchases items at Target totaling under $25. Each time he paid with a $100 bill. Each $100 bill passed had President Lincoln’s face rather that a real $100 bills that have Benjamin Franklin’s face on the front. President Lincoln’s appears on $5 bills
At his arraignment in the Attleboro District Court, Mr. Leland was held on a $1000 cash bail.
