Crime Rates on the Decline for Boston
For the fourth year in a row, crime in South Boston has dropped a stunning 7% this past year, according to the most recent information given by the Boston Police Department. This is encouraging news for the Boston area but as with every other city across the United States there is still crime.
On the list of types of crimes that occurred this year larceny, rape, aggravated assault, robbery, and murder were all down in South Boston. This is positive news on the crime front and yet there is always a downside, there was a slight increase noted on vehicle thefts and burglary.
One of the biggest improvements noticed, was in the robbery category, there were only 64 reported in 2013 which, compared to the 117 reported in 2012 is good leap. Also mentioned in the positive improvements was aggravated assaults which went from 172 in 2012 to 139 in 2013.
The overall rate drop in crime over the past year was a whole five percent. Five percent may seem like a small number in the big picture but any drop is a sign that things are going well. The Boston Police Department appear to have things well-in-hand and should be appreciated for their hard work year round.
