Shirley Sanchez-Myers has stated that she has been a victim of domestic violence. She is the wife of Eric Myers, who is the a judge in Hillsborough County. The Tampa Bay Times has reported that Eric and Shirley were having an argument at their home, and Eric had beaten her.
During the argument, Eric punched and slapped his wife in her face. He also pulled her hair. Furthermore, Shirley stated that the hits to the head caused her to lose consciousness. She discovered that her husband was gone after she had regained consciousness. She stated that her daughter screaming after she had woken up. Shirley stated that her daughter was yelling, “Daddy Stop Hitting Mommy!” Shirley and Eric’s daughter is only five-years old.
Shirley has filed for a restraining order against her husband. Eric was arrested at the courthouse on Saturday morning for domestic violence. The Tampa Bay Times had reached out to Eric for comment, but they did not get a response. However, records had shown that Eric had struck his wife in the face and pulled his hair. The Tampa Bay Times had reached out to Shirley also, but she did not want to comment on the situation.
Former Florida governor Jeb Bush had appointed Eric Myers to the bench in 2000. Meyers hears traffic and misdemeanor cases. Chief Judge Ronald Ficarotta stated that he has not decided whether Eric Meyers will be resigned. However, Myers has been ordered to stay away from his wife and daughter temporarily.
