A Texas licensed professional counselor intern has found herself in some trouble recently with the Texas Rangers. Selena Marie Baxter, a 29-year-old juvenile jail counselor was arrested for her inappropriate relationship with a 16-year-old boy.
It is alleged that the relationship between Baxter and the teen started at the Lake Granbury Youth Services where she worked as a counselor. The teen became an inmate at the juvenile jail in October 2014, which is when Baxter was assigned to be his counselor. Baxter is a licensed professional counselor intern with the Texas Department of State Health Services.
The teen was released into his mother’s custody in June of 2015. It was then that the inappropriate relationship between the two came to light. The teen’s mother found text messages from Baxter that included her pledging her love to the boy as well as naked pictures of herself. The mother then contacted authorities to report what she had found.
Authorities conducted a six-month investigation into the relationship of Baxter and the teen. They found that the two had attended the “Life in Color” concert together in Rio Grande Valley, Texas. The boy confirmed when questioned by the authorities that the pair had engaged in sexual activity together while on that trip.
Baxter was officially arrested on December 22nd, 2015 and is being held in the Hidalgo County jail. She is charged with counts of indecency with a child by sexual contact and violating the civil rights of a person in custody.
