Jose Reyes, a four-time All-Star shortstop for the Colorado Rockies has been arrested on suspicion of assault and battery on a family member or domestic violence. According to the USA Today, Reyes was arrested by Maui police on October 31. According to news reports, Reyes is alleged to have grabbed his wife’s neck and pushed her in to a glass door in a Maui hotel room. Katherine Reyes was treated at a Maui emergency room for injuries to her legs, chest and neck.
Reyes was released on bail pending the criminal charges.
In addition to the criminal penalties facing Reyes for the domestic assault and battery Reyes will also face penalties at work. As a major league player he is now facing a league suspension for the domestic violence. Also Reyes is facing complications in traveling internationally as a possible consequence of the criminal conviction.
