Idaho Senator Michael Crapo a Republican United States Senator has pled guilty to drunk driving charges in Alexandria, Virginia.
Shortly before Christmas the Mormon Senator was stopped by police for failing to stop at a stop sign. The Senator took and failed field sobriety test. He also blew a breathalyzer above the legal limit.
According to his sentence Senator Crapo got a 12 month license loss and must complete an alcohol education class. He also has a 180 day jail sentence that was suspended.
This was the first hearing for the Senator and he decided not to fight it. The sentence seems to be tougher in Virginia than in Massachusetts. Hopefully like many other first offenders he successfully completes probation and moves on with his life.
