Donald Fagen, the 67 years-old lead singer of Steely Dan, was arrested for allegedly assaulting his wife, Libby Titus. Titus, 67, told police that her husband shoved her into a marble frame during an argument. She later said that was not feeling good and was making plans to divorce Fagen.
According to the criminal complaint, Donald allegedly pushed Libby into the frame and caused her to suffer significant swelling and bruising. The alleged attack reportedly occurred around 5:30 p.m. in the couple’s apartment.
Fagen was arraigned in Manhattan Criminal Court. He has been charged with domestic assault and battery and harassment. He was released from jail without bail. An order of protection was issued for Libby.
Libby is a singer and songwriter. In 1977, she released a folk-rock album, which was co-produced by Carly Simon and Paul Simon. Later Libby stated she stated that she no longer wanted to press charges against Donald. She stated that she had spoken to her husband’s manager, and she talked to her husband. She did not state why she no longer wanted to press charges against her husband.
In Massachusetts a victim in a domestic assault and battery does not have any say in whether charges are issued. Police are ones who investigate and determine if someone broke the law. Then the police officers are the one that take out criminal charges.
