Charles Saltzman, a special education teacher at Lynn English High School has been arraigned on drug distribution charges. Mr. Saltzman 50 of Swampscott Ma has been placed on leave after his arraignment in the Lynn District Court on charges related to giving marijuana to a student.
According to Lynn police, Mr. Saltzman Mr. Saltzman was arrested after police learned that he had given marijuana to a female student in the school hallway. The female student claimed that Mr. Saltzman had asked her to get his lesson plan from his car, where she noticed marijuana. She then said Mr. Saltzman asked her not to tell anyone what she saw. Then, one two occasions Mr. Saltzman handed her marijuana in the hallway where it was caught by surveillance cameras. Later the female student turned the teacher in as well as a bag or marijuana.
Even though the teacher who provided the student marijuana was not paid money he still distributed the drug in violation of Massachusetts law. Here, one does not need to be selling drugs for money in order to be charged with distribution.
