The state of Florida has joined Massachusetts in forbidding jurors from using social media sites. Like Massachusetts Florida is now seeing an increase in appeals because jurors were talking about their jury service on social media.
According to publhed reports over 90 verdicts were subject to appeals because of juror conduct.
In Florida a judge must give a formal instruction to jurors to refrain from texting, blogging, posting anything about their case.
Many problems can happen when jurors recieve any type of contact outside of the court. It really is not fair considering the amount of work both sides put into a case as well as the defendant and victims to have to do it over because of juror misconduct.
