David Dudas, who is a 49-year old attorney in Wisconsin, was recently sentenced to 30 years in prison. He was convicted of 30 out of 31 counts of domestic violence. Dudas had been accused of sexually assaulting, strangling and abusing his wife. Accordingnews reports, Dudas showed very little emotion.
Dudas stated that the alleged sexual assault was actually consensual. However, the jury was not convinced because there were 17 videos showing the encounters, which occurred between March 2012 and July 2013. The attorney recorded the videos.
Tammy Jo Hock, who is a judge from Brown County, presided over the case. She stated that Dudas did not take responsibility for his actions, and he failed to show any remorse for the physical and emotional pain that he caused his children and wife. Those things played a role in the sentence that he received. The judge also stated that Dudas watched the videos, but he did not seem bothered by them.
Stephen Hurley was the attorney who represented Dudas. He stated that Dudas was a great husband and father. Hurley also sought a 6.5 year sentence for his client. The prosecution sought a 30 to 35 year sentence, but Hurley felt that it was not reasonable.
