Michael Sheehan of Arlington and Centerville made two mistakes Saturday night. First he drank then he drove to the police station.
Sheehan ignored to signs that said “Do Not Enter” and “Police Personnel Only” when he drove into the parking lot of the Barnstable Police Station. Police stopped because he was driving in the wrong lane.
He was then stopped by the Barnstable Police and asked to do field sobriety test which the officer believed he failed. Field Sobriety test include saying the alphabet, counting backwards, nine step walk and turn, one leg tests.
Police stated once they formed the opinion that he was operating under the influence of alcohol and decided to arrest Sheehan they did not have to transport him. They simply walked from the parking lot to the booking room to a cell.
Barnstable police said this is the first time an OUI arrest has been made in their own parking lot. They have however dealt with cars that have been broken into in their parking lot.
Sheehan will be arraigned Monday in the Barnstable District Court.
