Just days after a grand jury decided not to indict two police officers in the fatal shooting of Mr. Gilbert Florez the District Attorney has released the video of the shooting.
In August, San Antonio police officer responded to a domestic violence call when thy encountered Florez. He was depressed and suicidal. He had allegedly assaulted his wife and child before he was fatally shot by the police officers.
The District Attorney said that the shooting was not a clear cut case of justified use of force and presented it to the grand jury. According to the District Attorney all of the evidence was presented to the grand jury and yet they chose not to indict the two officer.
I have watched this video over and over and cannot believe that the jury did not believe a crime occurred. The man was yards away from the officers. His hands were up. He may have a knife but from the video it is unclear. Assuming he did he was still far enough not to pose a threat to the officers.
I don’t know if the District Attorney did a terrible job presenting the case, either intentionally or accidentally, or if Texas juries are just nuts but something happened in this case. What are your thoughts.
