Thank you for visiting my site. I am Patrick Donovan, and I defend people charged with crimes in Massachusetts. I have practiced criminal law since 2005, and before that I was a prosecutor, so I have worked both sides of the courtroom. If you are facing a charge, I know how heavily the uncertainty weighs on you, and my job is to explain what you are up against and stand with you through it.
Across my career I have handled everything from the first police investigation to a jury trial. I work methodically, look for the real leverage in a case, and aim for the outcome that actually protects you, whether that is a dismissal, a reduced charge, or a favorable verdict.
Massachusetts Criminal Defense Lawyer and Former Prosecutor
Before I became a Quincy criminal defense lawyer, I served as an Assistant District Attorney in Norfolk County. I prosecuted cases in the Quincy, Stoughton, and Dedham District Courts and in Norfolk Superior Court, handling thousands of matters involving drunk driving, domestic violence, and a range of drug and theft offenses.
Former Prosecutor
I also served on the Norfolk County District Attorney’s White Collar Crime Unit, where I prosecuted complex financial cases and worked alongside the Insurance Fraud Bureau, the Massachusetts State Police, and local police departments. I draw on that experience every day now that I am on the defense side, because I know how the Commonwealth prepares a case against you.

I use what I learned as a prosecutor to your advantage, testing the evidence and building the strongest defense your case allows.
Attorney Patrick Donovan represented me when I was charged with a criminal offense. I have never had a legal issue or even been in a courthouse. Mr. Donovan calmed my nerves, clearly explained the legal process, and told me what to expect at hearings. He was accessible and responded promptly to my calls and questions. Most importantly, he negotiated on my behalf and the charges were dismissed. I have no criminal record.
