David Spurlock, 29, did not have to go far to return to jail. According to the the Maricopa County Seriff’s office Spurlock tried to to steal the sheriff’s van upon his release from jail on a drug charge.
Spurlock, who was jailed for possessing methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, was arrested minutes after his release when sheriffs noticed him trying to steal a MCSO semi truck. According to the MCSO, Spurlock was released from jail then immediately went to the back of the parking lot where he attempted to steal the truck. Spur lock claimed he intended on selling the vehicle. He was then booked and held at the same jail he was just released from.
Prior to the theft attempt, Suprlock had to be escorted from the jail because he did not want to leave. Sheriffs then escorted him from the prison.
