Even though Facebook is a great way to network and stay in touch with people, many people use it for the wrong reasons. In fact, some people Facebook to brag about the things that they do wrong. However, posting the wrong thing on Facebook could cause one to end up in jail. Colleen Cudney, who is a 22 year-old woman from Michigan has learned that lesson the hard way.
Cudney was placed on probation for drunk driving back in 2012. As a result of this, she is not allowed to drink. On March 17, 2014, she took a Breathalyzer test and passed. Cudney bragged about her achievement on her Facebook page. She stated that she passed, despite the fact that she drank the night before the test. Law enforcement officials eventually discovered Cudney’s post. She was called in for a urine test, but it has been reported that she hung up.
A urine test is more accurate than a Breathalyzer test. It can detect alcohol in one’s system up to 80 hours after it has been consumed. Cudney is scheduled to appear on Tuesday and could possibly go to jail for 90 days. Anita Brown, who is a local resident, stated that she hopes Cudney gets the book thrown at her.
Facebook and Twitter are now common in our everyday life. People need to know that Police and probation officers also use it. Just like you would never confess to a crime why would you post it online where it could go viral.
